Dear BC Friends and Supporters,

We are raising funds to file a Temporary Restraining Order /Preliminary Injunction (TRO/PI) to stop Sand Hill Property Co. from starting construction at the Vallco site while the SB 35 project approval’s legality is being decided by the courts. Why? A TRO/PI is needed for the SB 35 project, because unlike the Vallco Special Plan – Tier II (halted by our referenda petitions until Council either adopts or votes to put them on the ballot), there is nothing stopping SHP from getting and acting on construction permits. In fact, SHP has applied for permits, some of which are likely to be granted by City staff by as soon as the end of April 2019. If it seems like the fight to stop SHP is endless, we agree it’s been a long road. But so far we have amazingly been able to overcome every hurdle placed in front of us – we’ve voted in resident-friendly council members to form a majority; we got thousands of signatures for our referenda petitions, three of the four which have survived and are keeping the Vallco Special Plan from going forward; and we are fighting the SB 35 project’s approval with some success (the judge recently denied a SHP motion to dismiss the case). But we still have one more inescapable hurdle — to keep SHP from demolishing structures and starting construction before the judge determines if project approval city staff granted last year was lawful. If construction begins before the judge considers the suit, the judge is very likely to let construction continue. Everything we have accomplished so far has gotten us to this point. Please help us get to the finish line.

We need to raise $25,000 to pay for the TRO/PI. And we’re off to a good start —$11,000 has already been pledged in amounts of $500 or $1,000. If 14 more people will donate $1,000, we’ll be done!
